The hall has a fascinating history. Originally built as a Methodist chapel in the early 19th century, it continued to serve the local community when a larger chapel was built across the road in 1871. From then on, the building was retained as a Sunday school and meeting room, continuing its role as an important gathering place for the village.
The village residents raised funds to buy the building in the 1990s and then successfully gained a Heritage Lottery funding grant to renovate and modernise the building. At the same time a charity was established to run and own the building with the remit to provide a public space for the local area. Building and repair works were completed in the early 2000s and the hall officially opened by the Lord Lieutenant Lady Mary Holborow in March 2004.
